By Ilan Pappé

Palestinians and the Birth of Israel: Liberal Settler State is a groundbreaking work that explores the complex relationship between Palestinians and Israelis from the late nineteenth century to the present day. Drawing on a wide range of sources, from personal testimonies to official documents, the book argues that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is not simply a product of religious or ethnic differences, but rather a result of the policies and actions of the Israeli state.

Pappé argues that Israel was founded as a settler state, with the explicit goal of creating a Jewish majority in Palestine. This settler-colonial project has been pursued through a variety of means, including land confiscation, population transfer, and military occupation. As a result, the Palestinians have been denied their basic rights, including the right to self-determination and the right to return to their homes.

Pappé's book is a powerful and provocative account of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the roots of the conflict and the challenges facing both Israelis and Palestinians today.
