The land was originally allocated to Hudco for the development of affordable housing, but it was subsequently diverted to the private developer for the construction of a luxury housing project.

Investigations revealed that several senior Hudco officials were involved in the illegal diversion of land, which resulted in substantial financial losses for the corporation and the government.
